Instituto Coordenadas Ranks Telefónica Perú’s New Owner Among Latin America’s 25 Most Influential Business Leaders

The report highlights José Luis Manzano’s track record in energy, telecommunications, infrastructure, and media.

Argentine businessman José Luis Manzano, recently in the spotlight for the acquisition of Telefónica Perú, has been included among the 25 most influential business leaders in Latin America, according to a special report by the Instituto Coordenadas de Gobernanza y Economía Aplicada.

The study examines the region’s leading economic figures based on criteria such as capacity for corporate transformation, sector leadership, regional influence, value creation, and international reach.

According to Instituto Coordenadas, Manzano holds a distinctive position within the Latin American business landscape, combining institutional experience, strategic vision, and extensive business activity in sectors considered essential to economic growth.

The report notes that, following his period of public service in Argentina during the 1990s, he built a business platform with a presence in energy, electricity distribution, telecommunications, infrastructure, and media, becoming one of the region’s most diversified entrepreneurs.

Among the factors cited for his inclusion in the ranking is the recent acquisition of Telefónica Perú, which the study’s authors consider one of the most significant corporate transactions in Latin America’s telecommunications sector in recent years.

Instituto Coordenadas also notes that Manzano was among the business figures who recognized early on the economic and political scope of the phenomenon represented by Javier Milei in Argentina, anticipating a structural shift in the country’s economic model.

According to the report, his relevance stems not solely from the size of his assets, but from his ability to operate simultaneously across strategic sectors, his regional influence, and his involvement in long-term economic transformation processes.

José Luis Manzano’s inclusion among Latin America’s 25 most influential business leaders reinforces his position as one of the region’s leading business figures and as one of the individuals with the greatest international reach within the current Ibero-American economic cycle.
